Bumblebee: Fully-Loaded Movie poster
Done between the official announcement for the live Transformers movie and the release of Herbie: Fully-Loaded. Previously Hasbro had stated it considered the release of the Herbie film would make yet another attempt at aquiring the liscence to use the VW Beetle for the Bumblebee character in the upcoming TF film (evidently due to the closeness of their releases- a full two years in between. Nobody even remembers the Herbie film six months later). This poster was made in response, and one of the few projects I started and kept at a relatively large size (over 500x700, versus 350x500 or less). This made it take up more space but was a bit easier while editing, as much of my work normally involves blending with JPEG artifacts. Car was recolored and racing stripes removed, cartoon robot image cleaned up and partially redrawn in areas, and the background plus the 'Bumblebee' text had to be recreated (one of the few times I've used a gradient in a stroke outline, probably should pick up that habit).

"Absolut Terror" Evengelion/Absolut Vodka Ad
A simple word-play on the full name for the 'AT-Field' defense projected by Eva's Angels. I mean what else is more 'absolute' than good ol' Sweedish vodka? Don't even ask me to remember what difficulties I had in creating that effect.

Neon Genesis Domokun: End of Kittens Movie poster
A favorite photoshop of mine, probably my first instance of editing Domo-kun into an image. Parodies one of the End of Evangelion posters by replacing the giant Kaworu head with the infamous Domo-kun (pluss some filtering, re-lighting, and glowing edges), and replaces Shinji & Asuka in the foreground with Domo's arch-enemies on this side of the Pacific; some kittens. I'm sure the situation depicted in the poster means major bad mojo for them. I on the other hand had to suffer looking through nearly 2,000 cat pictures just to find two viewed from the back; I even had to add the tail and recolor one just to get close to the appearance I had in mind. The main title's text style is nearly dead-on to the original (including range and location of the blue gradient), though there's minor differences in the font if one looks closely at the source image. The white fog along the horizon was redone to fit with Domo-kun. Being an obvious cliche, I included the obligatory 'All your base' line at the bottom, and while I was at it changed Manga's logo to a red & black Star Wars Imperial emblem.

Some Asshat Grinch Movie poster
This film struck me as a complete travesty of an abomination of a sham like virtually no other film has. Its horrble insipidness in every regard smacked me so hard I haven't referred to its producer by any name other than 'Opie' or 'Richie' since (look closely at the credit above the title), and it was also the final straw on objectively concluding that Harry Knowels is a big stupid whore (he passionately blubbered about some supposedly subtle warmth that washed over the Grinch's face when his 'heart grew three sizes', yet the actual scene more resembled Pee-Wee Herman attempting a Curly Joe). So I finally did something productive with my annoyance. Once again, text was recreated entirely for consistency (had to make my own Christmas lights on the chimney to fill in the gaps). I have to admit the new extensive-but-accurate cast billing at the top never fails to crack me up. So thank you, Jim Carrey; I have no idea who the hell you were trying to be, but if it's what I suggest it was, it's hilarious.

Dawn of The Domo-Kun Movie poster
Fairly straight-forward Dawn of the Dead spoof using one of my favorite cliched photoshop subjects, Domo-kun. I guess it's implying to be a sequel to the 'Everytime you post, Godkills a kitten' image? Whichever way, the text was all new, matched to the original font and then blurred & pixelated to match the grain. Domo-kun was filtered and the 'wound' pattern was lifted from source image, stretched over Domo-kun, and layer-blended. The title was difficult to match (I probably could have done the D's and O's more accurately, but I also had space constraints to deal with), and I applied actual JPEG artifacts like the source text. Finally, to continue with the theme of photoshop cliche, I believe the first and third lines of text in the very bottom content warning box now reads 'There is lots and lots of explicit sex in this picture. And lots and lots of boobies OMFG!!! All your base are belong to us. You have no chance to survive make your time."

Dawn of the Borg Movie poster
Another Dawn of the Dead spoof, done some time after the Domo-Kun version as a snide jab at fans of villans who get shoved over on a regular basis while supposedly being unstoppable. You'd think what with so many Trekkies being fans of the Borg, there'd have been decent staright-on portrait shots of the drones? Google image searches surprise me by just how many pictures there can be of one subject and have all of them suck.

"Don't Pick Up The Soap" Ad
Damn right, you don't. That message is from the Ad Council. don't become anyone's 'buddy', either.

Sinistar Movie poster
Poster made for a thread about making fake video game movies. I wasn't completely satisfied with this one, as it's a rather small image and I'm not happy with the ship I had to settle for. Maybe I'll redo it eventually.

Porrasturvat Movie poster
Another video game movie made along with the original Sinistar poster. Porrasturvat ('Stair Dismount' in its original language) is a simple freeware game where the objective is to push a 'super-hero' down a large flight of steps and cause the most damage (to collect on insurance, I believe the readme said). Hence the tag-line. I also had some misgivings about this version; what I really wanted to do was one of those plain white-background posters with live actor elements (look at every other summer romance or comedy film for reference). But where the heck was I to find an image of Jim Carrey or Ben Stiller flying through the air? So a well-timed screenshot had to suffice.
Although I suppose I could do another Image search while I'm writing this...

Porrasturvat Movie poster (live-action version)
Well, I'll be damned; I cooked up this plain-background-with-live-actor poster while writing about the previous version! Of course, I had him falling backwards in mind, but that's otherwise what I was aiming for. I kept in mind what text effects are popular these days while I was searching and applied some of those here. This time around the stairs were the hard part; once again nobody likes to keep around simple elements. But other than that I love the tag-lines and the flow of the text, and thank Og for Google Images.

Masturbation promotion poster
Well, I'm not going to argue with 90% of the human race (even if some of them are LIARS about it). It's a simple composition but a good example of what I can churn out late at night when compelled by bizzare thoughts. The biggest challenge was finding a suitable image- or even knowing what to look for. I thankfully found a good-sized crowd of various types of happy people, all holding up their hands, to boot. Would have preferred an image I didn't have to blow up and a crowd with a bit more age variety, but I managed without. After that, the tricky part was getting that damnably-large number to fit in the lower portion. :-P

"It would hit YOU" Soviet Russia poster
I suppose this could be considered some kind of ad or poster. Oh well, the real point is that I thought it was a funny concept, but I had a lot of trouble finding a hot woman in a Russian military uniform. I eventually found a usable pic, but let's just say the woman in question wasn't quite 'hittable' enough. Now believe me, she was certainly good-looking and I wouldn't turn down tapping that if I was in the random-tapping market, but let's just say the rest of the internet has higher standards, so something had to be done about that face. I used a portrait of another model and fit the major facial elements over the source with about 80% opacity. The rest was mostly adjusting colors/contrast and airbrushing out blemishes and seams. So it's still about 1/4th of the original face, with the rest filling in and smoothing things out.
Of course, now that I said that, you're saying to yourself "oh yeah, I could totally tell that wasn't the original face."
No, you totally couldn't. :-P

"Equal Rights For Spaceships" poster
Directly based on one of my brother's random inspiring quotes. The black outlines on the ship were from some clipart I pulled up, resized, and cleaned up. I picked some more vibrant colors and applied my own touch of quick gradients and an additional chromed layer effect. I wanted to keep the focus of the composition on the ship, but with it and the rocket trails taking up to the general frame of the piece. The text holds onto the top third of the image, with a light inner glow and some very minor beveled lighting for depth. Had I taken time to plan the poster out and actually had a custom graphic, I would have placed it further up and on the far right, with a lot of forced perspective and the trails dynamically crossing the frame, arcing back into the distance in the middle of the bottom 1/3rd or 4th of the image. Maybe next time I'll igore the clip art limitations and go for the fancier composition, but I think this one works for its purpose, whatever the hell it is.
